Welcome to Year 5 -
We were cowboys and cowgirls in maths; we rounded creatures to the nearest 10,000 and 1000 and explained our reasoning. We had a fantastic time and all earned our rounding sheriff award.
Karate for Concentration
We had the opportunity to try karate in order to improve our focus, respect and skills. We thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Some of us showed tremendous skill and all of us were focussed and respectful.
Joe Wicks HIIT week
For the full week, Year 5 and the school participated in Joe Wick's daily HIIT sessions. The teachers also took part. We really enjoyed the week and felt much fitter after it. (Also, a little bit achy).
Miss Platt recreated a scene from our class novel, 'Street Child' and we thought critically about the events, the feelings of the characters and possible scenarios. We used blooms taxonomy questions to think deeply about the events of the story. We had a real pie so that we could explore the smells of the scene, sound effects so that we could imagine the streets of Victorian Britain and Ma herself curled up by the fire.
Place Value up to a million
We have been learning the place value of numbers up to a million. We can order numbers, compare numbers and represent the number using concrete equipment.
