Geography is studied through themed topic work and we endeavour to ensure that the children are directly involved in planning for these topics and identifying what they would like to find out through an enquiry based learning style. Children have the opportunity to develop geographic skills, using a range of resources.
First-hand experience is gained through field studies and planned environmental visits. Furthermore, our local and geographical context is used to enhance learning whenever possible.
Children at St Anne's are given lots of opportunities to see how they fit into the world and their surroundings. Starting off in Reception, we look at our class and the school grounds and gradually build up on that in KS1. We look at how we fit into our local community and then expanding further to the United Kingdom and then eventually in upper Key Stage Two, we look at how we fit into the world and how things are the same and how they are different!
This ensures that the children at St Anne's school have a real sense of 'belonging' and know how they fit into and are part of the wider community and world.
