Year 1 have been interested in snowflakes. We read the story ‘Snowflakes’ and used the internet to search for photographs of snowflakes. We tried drawing lots of different types, remembering that they have 6 ‘arms’ and are symmetrical. Then, we used a white wax crayon to draw our final design and used watercolour paints over the top to ‘reveal’ our snowflake. We discussed that the wax crayon resists the water colour which is why our snowflake shows through the paint. Year 1 were fantastic ‘tryatops’ and showed their super creative skills!
