Bible stories that teach us about loss
We explored the story of Moses using clips from the film: Prince of Egypt, to discover what the Bible teaches us about loss. We discussed how Jochabed felt when putting her son in the Nile and the pain of her loss; we thought about how/why it was maybe necessary for the greater good. We then debated about the death of the slave, accidentally killed by Moses, and whether all life was equal or if the death of rich and poor was different. Then, we delved into the loss of the pharaoh’s son; we found it ironic that Moses would support the smithing of the first born sons even though he was obviously against the killing of innocent people. Finally, we read the story of Moses in the Bible and compared the differences between the two mediums.
