We have had a busy first week of the new term. We began the week by reading ‘Have you filled a bucket yet?’. We made our own small bucket and posted positive notes and drawings into each other’s happiness buckets. We discussed what it felt like to be ‘bucket fillers’. We have been exploring the book ‘The Mitten’ in our English lessons. We made story sliders to help us retell the story. We have been writing sentences using the -er and -est suffixes, using the animals in the story as our stimulus. The children have been practising addition calculations including their number bonds to 10 and 20 and have explored patterns within the numbers. In Geography, we have looked at maps and created various maps of our classroom. In Art, we are learning about Piet Mondrian’s abstract art using primary colours. We had a go and creating our own version of his works. Piet Mondrian was known for listening to jazz music as his created his art, so we did the same!
