South America Day
We had a South American themed day! We dressed in South American colours and costumes. We explored food from South America and then worked as teams to make a healthy dish:guacamole. We discussed the nutritional value of food, origins of food, necessary hygiene and safety when preparing food and then put our discussion into practise as each table group made their own guacamole. We then had a taste of our dish and they were all delicious! Next, we had a South American themed maths lesson in which we answered fraction and decimal word problems all about this amazing continent. Finally, in the afternoon, we explored traditions of some South American people: Day of the dead. We created our own candy skulls, day of the dead masks and bunting. We also explored carnival and the type of music that is played at this festival.
Overall, we had a super day and learned so much about South America and how it’s different to the UK.
