    Fair testing of air resistance

    That was a poo lesson!

    Today we explored poo from the past to discover what different civilisations ate. We found out Roman ate: olives, grapes, bread and melon; Vikings ate: mussels, bread, peas, cherries and mushrooms and Victorians ate: cheese, bread, carrots, peas, oats and cherries. We had a lot of disgusting fun!

    Today, we remembered those who fought in the war and gave thanks for their bravery. We wrote prayers based on our thoughts and feelings.     Rounding rodeo

    We practised rounding by hosting our own rodeo. We rounded numbered ‘pigs’ to the nearest 10, numbered ‘snakes’ to the nearest 10,000 and gained our rounding sheriff badge.

    Year 5 and 6 introduce Nibbles.

    Year 5 & 6 use P4C to introduce ‘Nibbles’ the class worry monster. Any issues the children have can be given to Nibbles and they will be dealt with.

    No pens day

    On no pens day, we explored a famous Victorian inventor: Elijah McCoy. We discovered how he fought through racial barriers and went on to invent 57 new products. We then created our own version of a moving toy influenced by Elijah McCoy.

    Bikeability

    Over the past day and a half, Year 5 have been peddling up and down the roads of Lydgate. They have shown off their safety skills and have cycled their socks off! A wonderful experience on the whole. Here are some photos of our experience.

    Blast off!

    Today we went into outer space. We planned an experiment and created a chemical reaction. Our rockets shot us into space. We then explored the order and features of the different planets. We even used loo roll to measure how far from the sun each planet is.
