SCHOOL DAY
Home-to-School-Policy-2022-23
Our School Day:
Our Reception Class doors open at 8.45am and parents are invited to come into the classroom with them. This helps the children to settle.
For the rest of the year groups, the school day starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.15pm. The doors will open at 8.50am and all children are to make their way to their classroom. Registration is taken at 9.00am.
Morning playtimes:
Children have a morning break from 10.25am – 10.40am.
Assembly:
Monday – Whole school at 10.45am.
Tuesday – Classroom Collective Worship at 10.45am.
Wednesday – Whole School at 10:45 with St Anne's CE Lydgate Church
Thursday – Classroom Collective Worship and reflections at 10.45am
Friday – Whole School Celebration assembly at 9.10am – parents are welcome to join us by invitation.
Lunch:
Our Reception children come into the Hall first and have lunch at 11.45am. The other children have lunch in year groups on a rota basis starting at 12pm. Lunchtime for all ends at 1.00pm.
Afternoon playtimes:
KS1 children have an afternoon playtime for around 15 minutes.
Our Reception class do not have an official break as they can access outdoor play throughout the day.
End of the school day:
School finishes at 3.15pm for all children.
Drop-off and collection:
At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are encouraged into the playground. This helps to build a close relationship between home and school – we want to have good links with all parents.
Your child’s teacher will be available in their classrooms at 8.50am. If there is something you would like to ask or clarify, parents are more than welcome to speak to them at this time. However, if more time is required (class teachers need to be with their class at 8.55am), an appointment can be made through our school office.
If your usual arrangements have to be altered (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child) please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset as we will be unable to let your child go if we do not recognise the person picking them up or have not been informed of a change to routine.
Getting to school:
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option as the roads become very congested! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely and be courteous at all times.
If children are walking to and from school, we must have a signed consent form from parents.
