Friday 22nd March 2024

Today, Year 4 have completed their final AYLA challenge at St Anne's Church! The children worked together to tidy and clean the churchyard, working hard to collect twigs, branches, leaves and litter! The children in Year 4 have worked extremely hard towards the award and everyone (pupils, teachings and parents) are very proud of them! Well done Year 4!

Tuesday 19th March 2024

Today, Ian Wolstenholme from Oldham Community Radio came into school to interview the children for his radio show! The children shared there work for the Archbishop Young Leaders Award, telling Ian all about the different challenges and leadership skills that they have participated in over the Spring term! Amazing work Year 4!

Monday 18th March 2024

This morning, Year 4 have been developing their serving and passing skills in volleyball! The children have been wonderful team workers and it's always amazing to see their encouragement of each other! What wonderful Christian Characters!

For Comic Relief, we have been created our own red noses as part of the School Council's jokes and funny noses competition!

Wednesday 13th March 2024

For our community task as part of the Archbishops Young Leaders Award, Year 4 were challenged to create a project that represented their local community. The children could create models, pictures, drawings, paintings or use ICT to present their final work!

On World Book Day, Year 4 had a wonderful experience at Oldham Gallery, meeting and spending time with children's author, Venessa Taylor! Venessa is the author or Baller Boys and the children had an amazing time participating in a range of activities, especially creating their own celebration dances if they scored a goal!

This half term, Year 4 are learning all about data collection in Computing! Today, we have been using Log Boxes and using them to collect data on temperature, sound and light! We will be using this data to create detailed bar graphs and pie charts!

In music, Year 4 have been working hard to compose their own music to accompany their wonderful river poems! The children have been learning all about pitch, tempo and rhythm so that they can compose music that shows onomatopoeia in their poetry!

To consolidate our learning of animals in Spanish last half term, today the children have been practising how to ask each other what animal they are!

Year 4 have been working extremely hard in maths to secure their understanding of fractions! Today, we have been using the playground to create number lines so that we can better understand how we count in fractions and mixed numbers!

Tuesday 20th February 2024

This morning, we have been learning all about key features of non-chronological reports! The children have been working in small groups and using the WAGOLL to find features in the text! We will be using this learning to support our drafting and writing of non-chronological reports about marvellous mountains!

It's the first day of the new half term and Year 4 have already began to make massive steps in their learning of fractions! We have been using lots of concrete resources to better understand parts and wholes and how some fractions are equivalent!

This morning, Year 4 have been making their own patterns using Turtle Academy! They have worked very hard to develop their understanding of coding and algorithms! Great team work this morning in Year 4!

We had a fantastic time with author Andy Tooze this morning! We shared our love for poetry and wrote some amazing pieces about the body and different body parts!

Wednesday 7th February 2024

Year 4 have had a wonderful time this morning, participating in some outdoor learning! The children were challenged to use the KS1 playground to look for rectilinear shapes and then work together to find the perimeter!

Friday 2nd February 2024

Today in Art, we have been using charcoal and testing out different techniques for sketching and smudging so we have create different patterns and textures. Through our testing out, we will be able to decide which technique is best suited for creating mountain images with charcoal and other forms of media.

Year 4 enjoyed sharing their narrative poems with Mr. Learmont this afternoon! For the last two weeks, we have been using the text, 'The Rhythm of the Rain' to write poems about rivers and water. We have been working extra hard to use different types of descriptive language, such as similes, metaphors and personification!

This morning, we have been exploring solids, liquids and gases in the form of ice, water and water vapour! We made great observations and interesting discussions about freezing, melting, boiling, evaporating and condensing!

Year 4 have had a fantastic Q&A session with Rev. Pat, asking interesting and deepening questions about confirmation and communion!

This afternoon, Year 4 continued their work for the Archbishops Young Leader's Award by reading with children in Year 1. The children in both classes had a fantastic time, sharing their love for reading and enthusiasm for storytelling!

Year 4 had an amazing P4C lesson, discussing themes of power, friendship and differences!

Year 4 had a fantastic afternoon learning about guide dogs and how to be safe around different dogs. They had very mature questions and worked great as team workers during the different activities!

Year 4 have been sharing their thoughts and ideas about changes, especially reflecting on things we can change and things we can't change. The children had to decide which side they would take and explain why.

We have been working extremely hard this morning in maths, learning all about place value! We have been revising our understanding of thousands, hundreds, tens and ones by using concrete and pictorial representations.

Year 4 had a fantastic time this morning tidying our planter! We've planted some wild seed-bombs ready for the bees and butterflies in Spring!
